Pelican Stars FC of Calabar defeated Police Machine FC of Uyo by 4-1 in the opening match of the 2019 Nigeria Women Pro-League Playoffs taking place at the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja.

Ogechi Ukwuokama wasted no time in converting from the spot in the 44th minute doubling the lead for the Calabar Ladies.
Chiamaka Okechukwu of Police Machine pulled one back from a very close range after a misunderstanding from the Pelican Stars defence.
Ogechi Ukwuokama scored her brace in the 68th minute after lofting a ball go past Nko Nfonobong to make it 3-1 for the seven times NWPL Champions.
In the 73rd minute, new entrant and former Confluence Queens midfielder Funmi Onakoya took advantage of an error by Nfonobong to make it 4-1 in favour of Pelican Stars.
The other game of the day saw Warri based side Olori Babes defeating Moje Queens by a lone goal.
The only goal of the game came from captain Osas Enoma, whose low header caught Moje Queens goalkeeper Abubakar Jimoh unaware.
Games will continue tomorrow in the NWFL Pro-League campaign as toppers Pelican Stars will confront Olori Babes for supremacy, while Police Machine FC and Moje Queens FC will be seeking to get their first win of the playoffs.
