Rivers Angels attacker, Vivian Ikechukwu has revealed what the General Manager told her when she joined the team in 2018. The former C.O.D Ladies of Lagos moved to Port Harcourt in 2018 despite being a ‘cult hero’ at Abia Angels.
In a chat with thenwfl.com, Vivian Ikechukwu recounted her first conversation with the General Manager of the team, Matilda Otuene Onyiloha and also with the Head Coach, Edwin Okon.
The 2018 NWFL Administrator of the season summoned Ikechukwu and said some inspiring words to her. “This is an environment where everyone is welcome and treated equally”. “If you are motivated and want to help us win more trophies , then you have a place here at Rivers Angels”, Matilda told her.
The Lagos born player also recalled what Head Coach, Edwin Okon told her. “This is a team where everyone wants to succeed, you have a duty to improve as a person and a player”.
The player also continued by confessing that she has improved as a player under the influence of these two people. “I had many offers when I wanted to leave Abia Angels. The management felt I should stay longer with them, but I had other plans.
“I joined Rivers Angels because of their rich history. I wanted a new challenge and also wanted to win laurels as a player. Everyone here at Rivers Angels treated me with so much respect and i felt at home almost immediately”.
” The General Manager and the Head Coach treats all players equally and that helps the mentality of the player. Everybody here wants to win because we want to live up to our name”.
