The two teams that got promoted to the Nigeria Women Premier League, Olori Babes and Pelican Stars, dominated the Nigeria Women Football League Team of the Season after both sides had some impressive results at the just concluded NWFL Pro-League Competition held in Lokoja.
A few good players missed out of the official Team of the Pro-League, but of course we can only pick eleven players. No doubt, this team can definitely take on any team in the Premier league.
#BUKOLA ONI (Olori Babes) (GK)
The former Sure Babes goalkeeper made some excellent saves all through the play-offs and ended up not conceding just one goal. The young goalkeeper has a big presence and also have a fantastic distribution with her feet.
#MARY POPOOLA (Moje Queens) (RB)
A great right full-back who helped her side alot all through the games played. She is a hard tackler and one who also goes forward to help the attackers by overlapping and recovering in time.
#KASALI RIHANAT (Olori Babes) (LB)
A very good defender who plays from the left full-back at times , but was a rock at the back of Olori Babes. One of the reasons the Warri-based team didn’t concede a goal all through. She reads the game well and lead from the back, from where she builds the confidence needed from her teammates.
#OSAZEE ENOMA (Olori Babes) (DM)
A defensive midfielder who loves to score. Osazee Enomah scored two of her team’s four goals at the play offs. A combative and ferocious player. She formed a good partnership with Chioma Oliseh who narrowly missed out of the best XI.
#HASSAN SULIYAT (Moje Queens) (CB)
Young, strong and reliable that is the right word to qualify this talented player. Ice cool under pressure, dominant in the air, an utility player who can play from any where on the pitch including the goalkeeping position. She was voted best player of the Playoffs by journalists present at the Confluence Stadium.
#CHINENYE OKAFOR (Pelican Stars) (CB)
She was the mainstay of the Pelican Stars defence at the competition. She worked so hard that her team only conceded twice at the Playoffs. The experienced vixen is still an important player for Pelican Stars.
#CHIKA IDIKA (Olori Babes) (RW)
With the attacking talents on offer at Olori Babes, Chika Idika stood out and played exceeding well scoring a goal against Moje Queens. Pact, skillful and naturally talented. She definitely deserves to be in this team.
#UFUOMBA CHIWENDU (Pelican Stars) (Attacker)
A brace against Moje Queens gave her a lead here. Ufuomba no doubt was the most consistent attacking threat for Pelican Stars at the Playoffs, tireless running, got a superb pace and a nightmare to defenders.
#CHIAMAKA OKWUCHUKWU (Police Machine FC) (Attacker)
She scored four goals in the playoffs, including a hat-trick against Moje Queens. The young and promising forward has all it take to be great and the way she expertly put the ball into the net is special.
# BUNMI DAVID (Moje Queens FC) (CM)
Dubbed the ‘Andreas Iniesta’ of the Nigerian Women Football League, Bunmi David is blessed with abundance skills that kept the fans amazed in Lokoja. She has the ability to dribble past two or three players with little or no space and also told thenwfl.com that the former Barcelona midfielder is her idol.
#EUNICE GODWIN (Olori Babes) (LW)
A player with a lot of potential. Powerful, fast and always at the right place most times. Though she missed some goalscoring chances at the playoffs, she made up with a fantastic goal against Moje Queens on matchday 3.
#ABAYOMI OLORUNDA (Olori Babes) (Manager)
Coming into the Pro-League for the first time and gaining promotion into the elite league with style means alot. Three wins in three, without conceding a single goal, including the famous victory against Seven-time league champions Pelican Stars.
