Damilola Koku has told thenwfl.com that she is motivated to score more goals and get Ibom Angels back on track for the Super 4.
The former Sunshine Queens striker, popularly called ‘Crespo’ by her teammates scored a brace at the Uyo Township Stadium against Abia Angels in the week two of the Nigeria Women Premier League and also inspired her side into the semi final of the 2019 AITEO Cup where they lost to eventual winners, Nasarawa Amazons.
Two defeats and a win have seen her side trailing both Confluence Queens and newly promoted side Invincible Angels by four points and one point respectively and the bullish striker told the thenwfl.com that the second round of games will be better for the ‘Orange Ladies.’
“Everyone came out the pitch In our last game against Invincible Angels in Makurdi for a win but we lost and that is the beauty of the game. The mid season is the best time for us to gather momentum ahead of the second round of games.
“I hope to score more goals to help my side win more games. I think the mood in the whole squad is magical and we are ready to go.
“We are third on the log and a win against Invincible Angels on the opening day of the second round will take us to second automatically and from there, we can challenge for the top.
“We were a bit disappointed that we lost against the ‘Nanka Iron Ladies’ in Makurdi, as we had chances to score but we failed too and you can only come out of the game thinking, ‘ we could have won that; it is a bit disappointing. But now we have to go game by game hoping to get favourable results that will get us there.” She concluded.
Ibom Angels will begin the second round of games against Invincible Angels at the Uyo Township Stadium on wednesday, the 28th of October 2019.
