Pelican Stars midfielder, Hannah Amos, has urged her teammates to remain modest as they start their campaign in the Nigeria Women Football Professional League in Lokoja on the 4th of October.
In an interview with thenwfl.com, the experienced midfielder warned her team mates not to see Pelican Stars as the favourite or the best team to gain promotion back to the Premier League but to do away with complacencies and play every game like they are playing against Rivers Angels or Bayelsa Queens.
“Everyone thinks we are the favourite going into the NWFL Pro-League play offs, I think it is an disadvantage for us. We don’t want to see ourselves as the best team, we want to rather earn it when we get there. She told thenwfl.com
“Our fans here in Calabar expect a lot from us, but they need to also understand that we are playing against some good sides too. We have to show these teams some respect before the games, but not on the pitch.
Asked if Pelican Stars can win all the three games in Calabar, Amos swerved between hope and what’s on ground.
“It’s is true that Pelican Stars have a rich history and pedigree, we are the most successful team in the history of the women’s league and now we found ourselves in the second tier league; Yes, we know we are bigger than this, but winning three games is very much possible. We need to start well, once we do, we can take it from there. She concluded.
