A Lagos based Graphic Designer Olanrewaju Muktair Elewude has won the NWFL Logo Challenge and was presented with a cheque of N100, 000 by the Chairperson of the Nigeria Women Football League, Aisha Falode on Thursday evening in Lagos after his proposed design was picked ahead of over forty entries submitted.
In a bid to clearly promote its relation with the fans, media, sponsors and additionally strengthen the profile of the league, the NWFL decided to throw out a challenge on social media on the 26th of November 2019 with the winner taking home N100,000.
The Logo Challenge held from the 26th November through to the 6th of December 2019 and all entries that came in during this period we duly acknowledged.
Then on the 12th of December, the selection process for the new NWFL Logo began as the forty-eight entries were first trimmed down to three before finally choosing Elewude’s design as the winning design following further rigorous analysis.
Speaking after presenting the cheque to Elewude, the NWFL Supremo thanked everyone for their support and promised that the new brand identity, when unveiled will stand out and will represent the modern world class league brand.
“The selection process was a daunting task as there were a lot of good entries which made it difficult to make selection.
“However Elewude’s design gives the closest representation of what the new NWFL strategic and brand framework represents.
“This is the point where the big work begins as we intend to integrate the winning design with the brand strategy and framework readily designed for this purpose.
“A logo design is just one of the components of a branding or rebranding scheme, it is therefore important to develop it in tandem with other elements and activation points for a complete brand work, and that is exactly the stage we currently are.
She continues: “The goal is to create a brand identity with the “look and feel” that represents the new direction of the NWFL in line with modern and global standards.
“We are therefore working to finalize the ongoing work on the rebranding project and will soon unveil the finished work before the commencement of the new season.
“We want to say a very big thank you to all, the forty-eight contestants who sent in their entries.
“Also to our online and offline community for always being there, and also for helping to spread the NWFL message.
“Thank you all for being a part of the ongoing process to deliver the NWFL we all can be proud of. She concluded.
The date for the unveiling of the brand new logo of the Nigeria Women Football League will be announced soon.
