Osun Babes head coach Liadi Bashir was delighted after his side escaped relegation following their 4-2 win via penalties in the Nigeria Women Premier League Relegation playoffs in Abuja.
The ‘Omoluabi Queens’ played a 1-1 in regulation time after Msughter Anita cancelled out Sarah Iloduba’s 50th minute penalty kick. Speaking to thenwfl.com after the game, Bashir was happy his side scale through, though not happy with his team’s performance.
” One thing I can say is that I am happy with the win and the fact that we escaped relegation. It was a difficult game and perhaps expected more from my players.
” After we scored, I thought we would score more , but we conceded a goal we weren’t supposed to and that made them stronger.
” Our main objective was to remain in the premier league and am overwhelmed that we achieved that. The last season was difficult for us, truly disappointing, but we know next season will be better.” He told thenwfl.com
Osun Babes and Dream Stars Ladies will remain in the NWPL next season while Kaduna Queens and Invincible Angels will be keen to fight for promotion in the Pro-League.
