Confluence Queens head coach, Whyte Ogbonda has described as Super 4 decider the top-flight clash against hosts and former side, Ibom Angels.
The Lokoja side are guests of the Orange Girls in Wednesday’s Nigeria Women Premier League (NWPL) matchday 5 clash at the Ikot Ekpene Sports Complex.
Prior to the midweek NWPL matchup, the Lokoja landladies pulled a heart-warming 1-1 away draw against hosts, Abia Angels while the Uyo side were uncompromising with two unanswered goals against visitors, and newcomers, Invincible Angels.
Ogbonda said his side have done the needful in terms of mental and physical preparations to be able to grab the whole three points at stake.
“For me this NWPL week five clash against former side, Ibom Angels is a decider for the Super 4 spot.
“I want to finally pick my qualification ticket there and then without pushing it any further to the last day match.
“We have prepared the girls mentally, physically and psychologically for the exertion and toughness expected from the opponents.
“The girls, too are mindful of the importance of the match towards realising their lofty dream of playing in the Super 4 in their life time.
“We have charged them that you will not be counted as big player at the backyard except you make it to the fore front and play in the big girls’ arena, so they are enthusiastic of playing in the Super 4 for the first time.
“Ibom Angels will be disappointed if they solely rely on what they know of my style of play when I was here with them.
“I have 100% different set of players and styles to prosecute the match, I’m going to unleash an entirely new team on them.
“Ibom Angels are good side, we lost to them in the Aiteo Cup in Ebonyi but we made it up with a win in the first league clash in Lokoja, we are here to wrap up what we started previously. You can say double, yes, we want to make it a double over them.
“We are ready for the match and Confluence Queens will smile home with the Super 4 ticket in their kitty at the end of 90 minutes,” said the former Ibom Angels and Rivers Angels tactician.
Confluence Queens are atop of NWPL Group D log on eight points two ahead of closest challengers and opponents, Ibom Angels with a match to wrap up the 2018/19 abridged season and only the group’s winners assured of Super 4 slot.
