The Nigeria Women Football League is mourning over the untimely death of two Police Machine FC of Uyo players.
The sad event occurred on tuesday evening after the team’s practice as an unknown vehicle rammed into two players namely Saturday Glory and Aniebet Ekong who died immediately after the incident, while one other player Monica Anthony is still receiving intensive care at the hospital.
The assistant captain of the side Linda Nnaocha while confirming the sad incident to thenwfl.com, said the two players Saturday Glory and Aniebet Ekong died on the spot before they could be taken to the hospital for neccesary treatment.
The chairperson of the NWFL, Mrs Aisha Falode who expressed shock and sadness over the untimely death of the two Police Machine players paid a special tribute on the league’s twitter handle:
” It is with great sadness that we receive the news of the death of two young players of Pro-League side Police Machine FC. We are all devastated at this tragic passing of Saturday Glory and Aniebet Ekong,” Aisha Falode said in an official statement.
” The thoughts of everyone at the NWFL are with the families of the deceased, their friends, teammates, the management and everyone connected to the club at this difficult period. She concluded.
